Why Hash???

So you're interested in hashing. Maybe it's because you've seen strange flour markings on roads and trails in the Las Vegas region (arrows, circles, and the such), or you've noticed a group of people on a Saturday afternoon senselessly running in Duck Creek, Red Rock Canyon, or down "the Strip". Most likely, it's because a hasher's silver tongue has convinced you to consider the sport. In any event, welcome to the Las Vegas Hash House Harriers.

Remember when we were kids, all of us ran. We ran in the playground, in the halls at school, in the grocery store and everywhere else we went... and we loved every minute of it! Watch kids sometime and see the smiles on their faces as they're running around.

As adults, running has become something different. The fun part seems to have gone away and running is something we have to do, either to stay, or get back into shape. Hashing takes us to places that we've never been before; parks, mountains, desert washes and vistas, and puts us into situations where we socialize.

Hashing puts the FUN back into running. Part of an international fellowship, weekly hash runs consist of a hare and hounds type format with the group following a trail of flour set by the hares. After the run, which lasts 45 to 60 minutes, the group gathers for a fun ceremony and is then off to a watering hole for food, refreshments, and socializing.

Established in 1993, the LVHHH has hashed (i.e., run) nearly 750 times in the Las Vegas area. Adults from all backgrounds and of every ability level make up the LVHHH. We hash every Saturday & Full Moon evening, year-round, rain or shine. Call the Hareline Recording, (702) 390-HASH for the starting location of the next hash. If you're serious about trying hashing come on out and join the fun!

See you at the hash!
